It is recommended that women achieve 30min of moderate physical activity on most days of the week and at least two sessions of resistance training. This includes during pregnancy. Some interesting facts

  • Exercise during pregnancy can reduce your risk of developing high blood pressure and gestational diabetes by more than 30% (Davenport, 2018)
  • Supervised pelvic floor training achieves greater results in quality of life and reduction in bladder leakage compared to those exercising at home
  • Returning to a normal body weight at 6 months post-birth is a much bigger predictor of urinary continence than whether someone is doing pelvic floor exercises
  • Meeting the National Physical Activity Guidelines can improve brain function, reduce your risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, risk of falls and several cancers.
